Rich, warm and rather spicy smelling, this oil was used during the Renaissance in pomanders to keep epidemics and plagues at bay. It is very useful in aromatherapy preparations for its antiseptic, analgesic, anti-irritant, relaxing, uplifting, stimulating, antispasmodic and anti-infectious effects.
On the skin, clove oil is used for acne, bruises, cuts, burns, sores, skin ulcers and to repel insects. It relieves pain associated with arthritis and rheumatism and it keeps infections at bay.
Cautions: This extremely potent oil should be used with care as it can irritate skin and mucus membranes.
