German chamomile smells fragantly earthy and slightly sweet.

It is often used in skin care preparations, especially those designed for sensitive skin, due to its soothing, calming, anti-inflammatory qualities. It is considered one of the gentlest of oils. On the skin, it calms red, dry, irritated skin, eczema, psoriasis and all other flaky skin problems. It is also a great tissue regenerator. It is said to be beneficial in treating sprains, inflamed tendons and swollen joints and can also be used to treat nervous tension, insomnia, indigestion and headaches.
